Experts Choice Showcall Showcase Review - Tribute Band Money For Nothing began proceedings smartly with some of the biggest hits of Dire Straits, such as "Walk of Life" and the sound the band take their name from. Lovers of Knopfler and co should be well entertained and providing this five-piece outfit find themselves in the right venues, they should hit the mark. The standards of musicianship were high here and many of the agents will have taken note of their freelance status.
The Stage, February 13, 2003 - The first band of the evening session was a tribute to Dire Straits, Money For Nothing featuring Aled Williams as Mark Knopfler, they get pretty close to the Straits sound and there is no doubt this young man can play. After a strong opening with "Walk of Life" they launched into the anthem "Sultans of Swing". A young band showing a lot of promise that produced a fair replication of a pretty unique sound.
Observer, June 21, 2001 - Those who were fortunate enough to attend the Money For Nothing concert at the Muni Art Centre, were treated to a feast of rock nostalgia and musical expertise. The Cardiff based band produced a spectacular show that included all the great Dire Straits hits - "Sultans of Swing", "Walk of Life", "Money for Nothing", "Romeo & Juliet", "Brothers in Arms" - plus many classic album tracks, that had the audience rocking with delight. The band too enjoyed every minute of it. This was a talented band of musicians - Derek Bisset on drums, Paul Guy bass guitar, rhythm guitarist Andrew Coslett, Niel Desmond on Keyboard were the ideal complement for the lead vocals and sensational guitar work of lead guitarist Aled Williams. There are many tribute bands around, but the quality musicianship required to be a Dire Straits tribute band means that Money For Nothing is the only such band on the music circuit. And make no mistake about it, they are good - very good. This was a great concert. If you missed this Money For Nothing show, make sure get a ticket next time they visit a theatre in this area.
Observer, May 30, 2002 - Money For Nothing, justifiably billed as the ultimate Dire Straits tribute band, returned to Pontypridd's Muni Arts Centre to thrill an enthusiastic audience with an exciting musical cocktail of the Straits' memorable hits and album tracks. The cardiff band, renowned for their high quality musicianship, recreated the authentic Straits sound in an enjoyable concert. Loud cheers and applause greeted such hits as "Sultans of Swing", "Walk of Life", "Lady Writer", "Twisting by the Pool", "Brothers in Arms" and "Money for Nothing". Mark Knopfler sound alike lead guitarist and vocalist, Aled Williams, demonstrated his immense talent with flawless guitar work that included impressive solos. Add to that the superbly energetic drum work of Derek Bisset and the combined talents of Paul Guy, (bass guitar), Andrew Coslett, (rhythm guitar), Heidi Herlukinson (keyboards and saxophone), and you had the recipe for a memorable evening for all Straits' fans. They showed their appreciation at the end with a standing ovation. Money for Nothing it wasn't - it was worth every penny of the admission price.
